5 Things To Know On Upcoming GoPro Hero 9

Post by Tejasv Sharma

GoPro fans, travellers, vloggers, everyone is waiting for the launch of GoPro Hero 9. GoPro has made the level of expectations so high that everyone is expecting some crazy feature, quality and camera improvements with the new go pro hero 9. As we all know about GoPro hero 8 and the launches of media mod, display mod and light mod, will the company discontinue all these mod or these mods will be supported by the new upcoming GoPro Hero 9 as well? So let’s check the 5 updates that GoPro can bring in there Hero 9 line up.

GoPro, since from their first launch they hardly made any changes in their design. If we talk about Hero 8, they brought the folding fingers or built-in mounting which was not appreciated by many and others were sharing the issues related to it. The second biggest change is in the camera lens, earlier hero 7 and in other older models we used to get a lens cap which has disappeared from Hero 8, but this time we may expect lens cover to return in Hero 9. We can also expect, this year GoPro Hero 9 will have a larger screen than its rivals.

There could be a major change in the screen, GoPro can bring the front display mostly the same way we see in DJI Osmo Action’s display.

If GoPro brings this feature like DJI Osmo Action, the LCD screen will be small enough, so you can figure yourself correctly in a vertical dimension. If they add on the voice-over commands or touchscreen that would be much comfortable and a lot easier to use.

If we talk about the main screen in comparison to older models we see thick borders with a 2-inch, 480×320 pixels colour display while if we compare same with DJI Osmo Action, it offers larger 2.25-inch, 640×360 display. According to the rumours, GoPro Hero 9 will offer a bigger edge to edge display that would make it a lot easier to use.

Hero 8 Black comes with a 1/2.3-inch sensor which is even smaller than some premium smartphone. Many of us are waiting for the 1-inch sensor in GoPro as we get in Sony RX0 II but it will dramatically increase the price of Hero 9, thus I don’t think it will come with the 1-inch sensor or in the same price range.

For last 4 years, GoPro is using Sony IMX277 since Hero 6 black while DJI Osmo Action uses Sony IMX377 and last year Sony has launched the new version, Sony IMX677, that clearly means it’s time to upgrade the sensor in Hero 9. Most likely GoPro will update the sensor from 1/2.3-inch to 1/4-inch in Hero 9.

It is also suggested that GoPro will introduce a new GP2 Chip which will help shooting in low light conditions, Slo-motions will be much smoother and manual controls will be much easier to use.

One of the biggest features that is loved by everyone, first came in Hero 7 black amazed the market with its intelligent electronic stabilization. However, the 3rd year of this technology will bring amazing smoothness in video and better stabilization system taking Hero 9 at a new level.

What is better than shooting 4K at 120fps in GoPro Hero 9, the shooting experience will increase immensely for the videographers and vloggers. there are higher chances that GoPro will bring this feature.

According to sources, GoPro will bring ultra-long time-lapse by which you can take a time-lapse video for days. This feature is very useful for travel photographers and video creators who can capture the certain creative shot in an easier way with less editing and preparations.

Last year Hero 8 was launched on October 1 and it is more expected that GoPro will release Hero 9 in the first week of October but as we can see the impact of Coronavirus all over the world in Business and industries, we can expect some delay of the product release to October end or Later.

If to predict the price of GoPro Hero 9, I think its too early to figure out the price but I expect, it cost the same or near to GoPro Hero 8, which is around $400 or around ₹40k in an Indian Rupee.
